The photographs in the "safehouse story" followed the lives of several women living in a domestic violence shelter in the Maine in 1998 and was done as a student project for the Salt Center for Documentary Field Studies. Living in the shelter off and on over the course of several months , the lives of the women living there were documented, in images and text, with the intent to understand how they began to rebuild their esteem and lives.
